Lampung University Physics Students Pass 2026 PKM-K Funding to Raise the Issue of Mountain Climber Safety from the Risk of Hypothermia

Physics Department — Students from the Physics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Lampung, have once again achieved success in the 2026 Student Creativity Program in Entrepreneurship (PKM-K). The Physics student team successfully secured funding with their innovation titled "Mountherm: A Jacket Innovation to Prevent Loss and Hypothermia as a Symbol of a Loyal Companion, Transmitting Family Warmth to the Highest Peaks." The team is led by Ahmad Khoirudin and includes Septiah Tri Wulandari from the Class of 2024, under the guidance of Humairoh Ratu Ayu, S.Pd., M.Si.

Mountherm was developed as an innovative jacket that prioritizes safety for mountain climbers, particularly in reducing the risk of loss of direction and hypothermia in extreme environments. Not only does it serve as climbing gear, but this innovation also carries emotional meaning, representing the warmth and care of family who always accompany the journey to the summit.

Successfully passing the PKM-K (Community Based Mathematics and Natural Sciences) competition demonstrates the ability of Physics students to combine creativity, technology, and entrepreneurial spirit into a product that benefits society. The PKM-K program itself is a forum for students to develop innovative business ideas that are competitive at the national level.

Furthermore, Andini Gusmarinda, a Physics student from the class of 2024, successfully qualified for the national level in the 2026 National Mathematics and Natural Sciences Olympiad for Higher Education (ONMIPA-PT) in Physics.

"Through this achievement, it is hoped that more students will be motivated to continue producing creative and solution-oriented work, and actively contribute to national competencies to develop critical thinking, analytical skills, and problem-solving in the natural sciences," said the Head of the Physics Department.

The Physics community of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Lampung, expressed their appreciation and congratulations on their success. We hope these three physics students will advance to the next round and achieve the best results.

"Continue to innovate, bring honor to Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Lampung, and be an inspiration to future generations."
