ITERA Science and Technology Senate Visit
April 22 2026, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) Lampung University received a courtesy visit from the Science and Technology Senate of the Sumatra Institute of Technology in order to strengthen institutional relations and strengthen synergy between academic elements in the tertiary environment. This visit is an important momentum in building constructive communication between senate institutions, especially in supporting academic governance and strengthening the strategic role of the senate at the faculty level.
This activity took place within the FMIPA environment Lampung University and was attended directly by the Dean of FMIPA along with faculty leaders, members of the FMIPA Unila Senate, as well as a group from the Sumatra Science and Technology Senate. The presence of leaders and elements of the senate from both parties reflects a shared commitment to strengthening institutional functions oriented towards improving academic quality, organizational governance and sustainable institutional development.
This meeting was held in a warm, open and collaborative spirit. The main agenda of activities is focused on sharing performance and exchanging experiences regarding organizational structures, strategic roles and institutional governance in the Senate sector. In this forum, each party explained a general description of the senate's organizational structure, work mechanisms, academic consideration functions, and the role of the senate in supporting faculty and university policies.
The Unila FMIPA Senate explained the various institutional practices that have been implemented, including the implementation of normative and academic functions, senate meeting mechanisms, the process of giving consideration to academic policies, as well as the senate's involvement in supporting the development of the quality of education, research and community service. Apart from that, coordination patterns between the senate and faculty leaders were also discussed in maintaining a balance between the functions of supervision, consideration and support for faculty strategic policies.
Meanwhile, the Sumatra Science and Technology Senate also conveyed the experience and good practices that have been applied in the institutional management of the senate within its institutional environment. The discussion took place dynamically by discussing various important aspects, such as strengthening internal regulations, optimizing the role of senate members, effectiveness of session forums, administrative governance of the senate, and strategies for increasing the senate's contribution to the direction of academic policy and institutional development.
Through this forum, both parties exchange ideas, views and experiences in an effort to strengthen the role of the senate as an important element in higher education governance. This activity is also a means of joint evaluation to identify challenges, opportunities and strategic steps in increasing the effectiveness of the senate's role as a normative and representative academic institution.
Dean of FMIPA Lampung University in his speech expressed his appreciation for the visit of the Sumatra Science and Technology Senate and emphasized the importance of forums like this as a space for productive academic dialogue. According to him, strengthening the senate institution is an important part in realizing faculty governance that is healthy, transparent, accountable and oriented towards improving the quality of higher education.
This visit activity is expected to be the first step in building closer communication and cooperation between the Unila FMIPA Senate and the Sumatra Science and Technology Senate, especially in strengthening institutional governance, developing the role of the senate, and improving the quality of academic policy making in the tertiary environment. Through this synergy, it is hoped that the Senate can play an increasingly active role in supporting the creation of superior, adaptive and competitive higher education governance.
