Encouraging Journals with International Reputation, FMIPA Unila Holds Workshop on Management of Scopus Indexed Journals

Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) University of Lampung again demonstrated commitment to improving the quality of scientific publications throughWorkshop activities Journal Management Towards Scopus Indexing, which was held on Thursday, May 21 2026 at the FMIPA Dean Building, University of Lampung, Meeting Room Second Floor. This activity was attended by the journal managers at FMIPA environment of Lampung University.

This workshop organized as a strategic effort to improve the quality of governance scientific journals to be able to compete at the international level and fulfill reputable indexation standards such as Scopus. Through this activity, participants Gain an understanding regarding journal management strategies towards indexing Scopus, editorial management, improving the quality of scientific articles, onlinegovernance journal system(OJS), strategy to increase citations, to stages and requirements for submitting Scopus indexation.

Activities are open officially through an opening speech by the Dean of FMIPA, Dr. Eng. Heri Satria, S.Si., M.Sc. In his speech, he said: the importance of improving the quality of scientific journals as an indicator progress of higher education institutions. Apart from that, he also emphasized that Scopus indexed journals will have a positive impact on reputation university academics as well as increasing the research competitiveness of lecturers and students at the global level.

Workshop presenting competent sources in the field of scientific journal management, namely Dr. Ahmad Sofyan, S.H., M.H. as Editor in Chief of the Fiat Justifia Journal and Gigih Forda Nama, S.T., M.T.I. from the Chair of the Publication and Collaboration Center LPPM Unila. The two speakers shared their experiences and practical strategies managing journals to meet international standards. Material presented includes evaluating journal quality, publication ethics, strengthening editorial boards, reviewer management, as well as optimizing article metadata to improve journal visibility.

This activity is guided by moderator Dr. Junaidi, S.Si., M.Sc. who directs the course of the discussion interactively. The participants looked enthusiastic about taking part in the presentation session as well as questions and answers, especially regarding the challenges often faced in journal management process towards international indexation.

In addition to obtaining new insights, workshop participants also get e-certificate facilities free as a form of appreciation for participating in these activities. By holding this workshop, FMIPA Lampung University hopes to be able to do this encouraging improvements in the quality of scientific journals in the university environment so that More and more journals have successfully penetrated the Scopus indexation and are reputable international.
