Bandar Lampung, 24 June 2026 – The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of the University of Lampung has once again achieved academic achievements through the implementation of the Doctoral Promotion Session for the MIPA Doctoral Study Program (S3) which was held on Wednesday, 24 June 2026, at the Meeting Room of the FMIPA Dean of the University of Lampung, Floor III.

The activity carried out was the Doctoral Promotion Session for the MIPA Doctoral Study Program (S3) with promovendusDr. Fendi Setiawan, S.Si., M.Si. who defended his dissertation entitled “OSMAC-SSF Approach Based on Digital Metabolomics and In Silico in the Exploration of the Bioactive Compound Aspergillus ochraceus PLP1F21.”

The research examines the use of the One Strain Many Compounds (OSMAC) and Solid State Fermentation (SSF) approaches combined with digital metabolomics technology as well as in silico analysis to explore the potential of bioactive compounds produced by the fungus Aspergillus ochraceus PLP1F21. It is hoped that the results of this research can contribute to the development of chemistry, biotechnology, pharmacy, as well as the discovery of natural compounds that have the potential to be used in the health and industrial fields.

The doctoral promotion session was chaired by Mulyono, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., as Deputy Dean of FMIPA, Lampung University who acted as Chair of the Session. Also attending the activity wasDr. Khoirin Nisa, S.Si., M.Si. as Head of the MIPA Doctoral Study Program (S3).

The promoter team who accompanied the preparation of the dissertation consisted of:

• Prof. Andi Setiawan, Ph.D.as Promoter;
• Prof. Rudy T.M. Situmeang, Ph.D.as Co-Promoter I;
• Dr. Yuli Ambrwati, S.Si., M.Si. as Co-Promoter II.

Meanwhile, the team of examiners who provided academic assessments consisted of:

• Dr. Eng. Ni Luh Gede Ratna Juliasih, M.Si. from the University of Lampung as an Internal Examiner;
• Peni Ahmadi, Ph.D. from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) as an External Examiner.

This activity was also attended by special invited guests, promovendus families, FMIPA academics at the University of Lampung, lecturers, Postgraduate Program students, and colleagues who also provided support and appreciation for the academic achievements achieved.

The Doctoral Promotion Session was held on Wednesday, June 24 2026, as one of the final stages in completing the study of the Doctoral Program (S3) MIPA FMIPA Lampung University.

The activity took place in the Dean Room FMIPA Lampung University Floor III, which becomes the center for implementing various strategic academic activities within the FMIPA University of Lampung.

The doctoral promotion session is held as a form of final evaluation of the quality and scientific contribution of the dissertation that has been prepared by promovendus during the doctoral study period. Apart from that, it is hoped that the research carried out will be able to enrich the body of knowledge and support the development of research based on Indonesia's biological resources, especially in the exploration of secondary metabolites of microorganisms which have the potential to produce high-value bioactive compounds.

The trial took place in a solemn and academic manner. Promovendus presented the research results in front of the promoter team, examiners and the guests present. Various questions, input and scientific discussions were submitted by the examiners to test the originality, methodology, research results and scientific contributions produced.

After going through a presentation process, question and answer session and comprehensive assessment by the examiner team,Dr. Fendi Setiawan, S.Si., M.Si.was declared successful in defending his dissertation very well and officially obtained the title of Doctor of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.

This success is proof of dedication, hard work and high academic commitment in producing research that is innovative and useful for the development of science.
